About The Position

Retirement Benefit Specialists help people in various trade unions access and understand their retirement benefits. They assist participants who are planning to retire as well as those who are already retired. The position is non-exempt and pays $26.85 per hour. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Nice To Haves

• Previous customer service experience.
• Previous retirement benefits experience.
• Experience with Taft-Hartley Funds.

Responsibilities

• Calculate and prepare retirement benefit payment amounts.
• Process retirement benefit applications.
• Explain retirement benefits to participants and provide benefit estimates.
• Answer a high volume of incoming participant calls related to Pension Plans.
• Meet regularly with participants to answer questions about retirement benefits and communicate with other Fund Professionals as needed.
• Interpret and administer retirement benefits in accordance with Plan Documents.
• Draft and mail correspondence to participants and beneficiaries regarding retirement benefits.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
