The Retail Trainer is responsible for delivering high-volume, retail-focused training programs that support the onboarding and development of frontline bank team members. This role primarily facilitates Teller and Universal Banker classroom training, ensures consistency in training delivery, and provides ongoing administrative and post-training support to retail teams. This role plays a critical part in providing compliant training, supporting operational readiness, and enhancing the overall employee and customer experience within retail banking.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of three years of experience in retail banking, customer service, training, or a related field.
  • Experience in a Universal Banker role is preferred, along with prior experience in training, coaching, or mentoring others.
  • Familiarity with banking operations and compliance, policies, and regulatory expectations, as well as experience supporting structured or high-volume training programs.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to facilitate in-person training sessions regularly while maintaining the ability to manage recurring responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with learning systems or training platforms.
  • Effective facilitation and presentation skills combined with adaptability and consistency in delivery.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills, along with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment while supporting shared goals and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ability to work additional or non-standard hours as needed to meet deadlines or respond to other situations requiring extended availability.
  • Possess and maintain a current driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
  • Possess and maintain adequate skills in computer operation, including email, word processing, spreadsheet, and specialty software programs.
  • Possess and maintain adequate typing skills to meet the needs of the position.
  • Possess and maintain adequate math skills to meet the needs of the position. This may include the ability to count currency and coin, calculate interest, balance accounts, add, subtract, multiply, and locate routine mathematical errors.
  • Practice effective and efficient organizational and time management skills.
  • Be able to work with general supervision while performing duties.
  • Use effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. This includes the ability to apply common sense when carrying out instructions, interpreting documents, understanding procedures, writing reports and correspondence, and speaking clearly to customers and employees.
  • Be able to deal with routine problems involving multiple facets and variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate instructor-led training for all retail focused training programs, ensuring consistent delivery aligned with established curriculum standards, compliance requirements, and learning objectives.
  • Lead classroom sessions on a recurring schedule while adapting delivery style and pacing to meet the needs of diverse learners and varying levels of experience.
  • Administer and grade Teller assessments while tracking participant progress and maintaining accurate training records and documentation.
  • Coordinate and support training logistics, including preparing materials, setting up classrooms, and ensuring all resources are available to deliver effective sessions.
  • Maintain and update retail training materials on a routine basis to ensure alignment with current policies, procedures, systems, and operational and compliance changes.
  • Partner with Training & Development Specialists to implement content updates and assist in maintaining training resources within internal learning systems and job aids.
  • Provide follow-up support to branch teams and trainees after training completion, serving as a resource during role transition and early application of skills.
  • Identify knowledge gaps, common challenges, and learner feedback trends, and communicate insights to the Training & Development team to support continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Training & Development Specialists to ensure training consistency, reinforce quality standards, and support ongoing program enhancements.
  • Maintain training records and monitor completion of required learning activities.
  • Participate in feedback processes, pilot programs, and new training initiatives while contributing to the continuous improvement of the learner experience.
  • Observe employee performance during and after training, provide coaching and feedback, and recommend additional development opportunities as needed.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through participant feedback, assessments, and performance observations, making improvements to training content and delivery methods.
  • Ensure compliance with all bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.
