About The Position

Under the direction of the SVP, Retail Banking Administration Officer, the Retail Banking Trainer is responsible for designing, implementing, and facilitating training programs for retail banking staff. These training initiatives are designed to support Bank of New Hampshire’s operational, service, and compliance needs. The role also provides additional support to programs and projects as approved and directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in retail banking or comparable experience in a financial service industry position, with a strong understanding of banking products, processes, and regulations.
  • Experience in the design and delivery of presentations and materials in a group setting, and teaching adult learners.
  • Proven track record in designing and delivering effective training programs, preferably in a financial services environment.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring abilities, with a focus on developing others and driving performance improvement.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
  • Proficiency in using training tools and technologies, such as learning management systems and virtual classroom platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft M365 applications.
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) and listening skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, time management skills; ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with little direct supervision while performing duties.
  • Ability to engage and motivate others.
  • Ability to travel throughout the organization, sometimes overnight, as required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record, as well as a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive training materials, including manuals, presentations, and virtual training covering various aspects of retail banking operations, products, and services.
  • Deliver engaging and interactive training sessions to retail banking staff, both in person and through virtual platforms, ensuring understanding and retention of key concepts.
  • Assess training needs through observation, feedback, and performance evaluations, and adapt training programs accordingly.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in retail banking, incorporating relevant updates into training content.
  • Collaborate with department managers and subject matter experts to identify training gaps and develop targeted interventions to address them.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of training activities, attendance, and outcomes, ensuring compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Serve as a resource for retail banking staff, answering questions, resolving issues, and providing additional support as needed.
  • Responsible for training platform/teller software programs related to branch operations, as well as testing and keeping staff informed of system updates and changes.
  • Responsible for performing trainer evaluations relating to the progress and performance of newly trained employees, and for communicating concerns regarding training issues to managers as appropriate. Conducts all Bank Services Representative skill-set advancement testing.
  • Support Retail department on updates regarding the Standard Operating Procedures Manual for Retail Banking, Product Information Manual, and Retail Banking BNH Connect page.
  • Maintain the Training Calendar and course catalog on BNH University.
  • Supports the Bank’s strategic and business plans by participating in initiatives and projects that affect retail and continuously look for process improvements. Create and deliver training as necessary.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of all bank products, services, policies, and operating procedures, as well as an understanding of federal and state regulations and compliance issues as required. Work with appropriate departments (i.e. Marketing, Compliance, IT, Deposit Operations etc.).
  • Work with HR and Compliance to utilize BAI, Teams, and Lemonade to create virtual content to complement and enhance in person training.
