About The Position

The Retail Store Tailor delivers high-quality craftsmanship and a precise fit for customers through clothing alterations, measurements, fittings, and garment repairs. The role requires strong sewing and alteration skills, attention to detail, reliability, accuracy, efficiency, and a commitment to customer satisfaction. Tailors collaborate with colleagues and uphold company standards while contributing to a positive, professional work environment. The Tailor performs standard alterations according to company guidelines, maintains garment quality, presses finished garments, and keeps the work area and equipment organized. The role also includes preparing completed work for customer pickup, monitoring supplies, supporting customer-facing and store activities, and sharing tailoring knowledge with teammates. Work priorities and schedules may change as directed by management. The position requires the ability to work at least 20 hours per week when needed, including on any days and during the hours the store operates. The role may involve voluntarily working at multiple store or site locations and across multiple brands.

Ability to work at least 20 hours per week when needed, including any days and hours the store is in operation.

Responsibilities

Perform standard garment alterations, including pant hems, waist and seat adjustments, rise and tapering modifications, coat sleeves, side seams, and lower collar adjustments, in accordance with company guidelines.
Maintain an average of 60 minutes of productive alteration work per working hour, allowing for rest and meal periods and non-tailoring tasks as needed.
Ensure garments meet quality standards, including clean finishes, secure stitching, even seams, and removal of loose threads and pins.
Press garments for a clean, crisp finish.
Maintain a clean, organized, efficient workspace and properly store and maintain tools and materials.
Demonstrate proficiency with tailor shop equipment.
Accurately tag and organize completed work for customer pickup.
Monitor tailoring supplies and request replenishment from management as needed.
Support front-of-house activities, such as cleaning, restocking merchandise, and assisting customers.
Participate in customer consultations at management’s direction and provide guidance on alterations and garment fit.
Listen to customer needs and offer personalized solutions to deliver a strong customer experience.
Adapt to changing workload priorities and scheduling needs as directed by management.
Share tailoring knowledge and techniques with fellow tailors to support consistent quality and skill development.
Assist in training sales staff on tailoring fundamentals, including marking, fitting, measuring, and pressing.
Seek and respond to constructive feedback and communicate concerns or requests promptly to management.
Report incidents, accidents, and safety hazards to the manager on duty and/or Regional Manager.
Provide tailoring insights to sales staff to enhance product knowledge and the customer experience.
Maintain professional appearance and personal care standards.
