About The Position

The Retail Store Manager leads and manages store operations, employees, customer service, site presentation, safety, communication, and financial performance. The manager recruits, hires, trains, schedules, and supervises employees; assigns work to keep the site clean, stocked, organized, and aligned with Company standards; and maintains professional relationships with employees, suppliers, customers, and the neighboring community. The role includes preparing written performance appraisals, providing timely communications, organizing site records, ensuring reports are completed accurately and on time, and managing merchandise presentation and pricing. The manager analyzes sales and expenses, budgets and forecasts profit-and-loss lines, manages merchandise margins, safeguards funds, and takes action to maximize sales and net profits. The position generally involves indoor work, with occasional outdoor duties and exposure to cold temperatures in walk-in coolers or freezers and occasional noise. The manager works with a minimum of direction and supervision.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Retail sales experience preferred.
Experience sufficient to perform the essential duties and work in the described conditions.
Ability to supervise and train employees in the use of equipment, tools, and materials listed in the Customer Service Representative and Assistant Site Manager job descriptions.
Ability to supervise and manage the functions listed in the Customer Service Representative and Assistant Site Manager job descriptions.
Ability to use a computer or acquire the skills needed to use one at the site, including analyzing reports and handling inventory control, cash control, and counseling notices.
Valid driver’s license and adequate transportation to and from bank and corporate management meetings.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English.
Ability to work with a minimum of direction and supervision.

Responsibilities

Recruit, hire, and train positive, enthusiastic employees to provide excellent customer service.
Develop, manage, and assign tasks so the site is clean, adequately stocked, organized, and maintained according to Company standards.
Maintain a professional and supportive image among subordinates and the supervisor.
Schedule employees within Company guidelines to maximize customer service and maintain the site image.
Use non-discriminatory management practices when hiring, training, counseling, motivating, and separating employees.
Develop positive and professional relationships with suppliers.
Promote excellent service and resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally.
Promote and ensure a safe, positive public image in the neighboring community.
Prepare timely written performance appraisals and provide appropriate performance feedback to employees.
Train employees to meet Company standards for customer service, site image, marketing execution, and safety procedures; promote safety awareness.
Ensure employees receive appropriate communications in a timely manner and establish ongoing communication meetings with site employees and the Market Manager.
Evaluate site needs and develop action plans to achieve desired objectives.
Organize and maintain site files and manuals.
Supervise employees to ensure required and requested reports are completed accurately and on time.
Ensure merchandise is stocked, attractively displayed, and correctly priced.
Ensure required employment-related posters and signs are accessible to employees.
Analyze daily sales and expense information and take appropriate action to maximize sales and net profits.
Budget and forecast profit-and-loss lines and manage merchandise margins.
Safeguard and account for all money received and disbursed.
Perform other financial analysis necessary to maximize sales and net profits.
Perform other duties as assigned or delegated by the supervisor.
Work outdoors as needed to clean parking lots and gas pumps and take out garbage.
