Retail Store Lead Merchandiser - Full Time - NEW STORE OPENING, Brunswick, ME
About The Position
The Store Lead Merchandiser at Ocean State Job Lot creates visually appealing store environments at established, new, or remodeled stores within an assigned market. The role works closely with store leadership, territory Senior Merchandisers, and the corporate Merchandising Department to align with company initiatives, brand standards, and visual merchandising and operational best practices. The position includes merchandising and store operations, supporting associates through training and guidance, maintaining safety and cleanliness standards, assembling fixtures and signage, and traveling to stores in the assigned region as needed. Other duties may be assigned by supervisors or managers.
Requirements
- Prior merchandising planning and presentation experience in a retail environment is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google platforms, including Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, and Sheets.
- Availability to work as needed by the business, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to travel to other locations based on business needs.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
- Prior retail management experience in operations and merchandising.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer experiences by exemplifying the T.R.E.A.T. model.
- Implement and maintain visually impactful merchandising in accordance with company standards and strategies, including participating in merchandising training.
- Execute planograms, plan-o-guides, and visual presentations.
- Implement merchandise plans while considering category space needs and adjacency.
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently.
- Participate in overall store operations and merchandising.
- Collaborate with Store Leadership on product placement and presentation, and conduct daily walkthroughs to address issues such as price reductions, flyers, Crazy Deals, and internet coupons.
- Review merchandise reports and analysis to optimize merchandising and drive sales.
- Handle company assets responsibly.
- Assist with training, mentoring, and guiding associates on company merchandising practices.
- Uphold safety and maintenance standards and perform cleaning and janitorial tasks as needed.
- Assemble store fixtures and signage according to company standards.
- Operate a cash register as needed.
- Promote company-wide customer engagement campaigns.
- Perform merchandising tasks such as ticketing, cutting cases, lifting merchandise, hanging signage, and displaying merchandise.
- Travel to stores within the assigned region as needed.
