About The Position
The Retail Service Technician diagnoses equipment problems and performs maintenance, repairs, and part replacements. The role is also responsible for building maintenance and for keeping equipment and facilities in good working order and compliant with OSHA regulations. The technician rotates among four to five nearby stores and is always on call. The work takes place in a retail store setting and involves contact with store managers, suppliers, vendors, and the general public to obtain parts and services. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
Requirements
- Maintain appropriate certifications.
- Hold a valid driver’s license.
- High school education or equivalent experience.
- HVAC and Refrigeration certification.
- Appropriate certifications.
- Verisae refrigerant management system and EPA compliance knowledge or training.
- OSHA-required safety training.
- Complete a pre-employment drug screen.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair equipment and buildings to ensure good working order and compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Establish work orders and develop schedules for assigned tasks.
- Perform building repairs, investigate reported problem areas, and contact suppliers or vendors.
- Rotate between four to five stores in surrounding areas.
- Plan expansions, estimate equipment, lighting, and fixtures needed for proposed work, and make recommendations to a supervisor.
- Keep the work area, tools, and equipment clean, in good repair, and properly placed.
- Create maintenance schedules and perform preventative maintenance.
- Report to work as scheduled and work the expected number of hours.
- Attend safety meetings as assigned.
- Remain on-call at all times.
- Solicit feedback about equipment trends that may require follow-up with manufacturers or salespeople.
- Share ideas and practices for potential energy-saving projects using Advantage IQ, Hy-Vee’s benchmarking tool.
- Use rebates when encouraged and perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
