About The Position

The Retail Scan Associate is a permanent, part-time role that performs weekly in-store data collection at assigned local retailers. Associates visit designated stores and use a downloadable app on their mobile phone to scan product barcodes on displays and in aisle locations, including end caps. They also provide quantity information for about 45% of scanned products. The collected data is analyzed to help improve product and retailer sales performance.

The route includes stores in Colonial Heights and Hopewell, Virginia, with available workdays varying by store. Associates are assigned to stores for weekly work throughout the year, including holiday weeks. Display scanning is completed across the entire store each week and can take several hours. Custom Projects, which request more detailed information about products in their main stocking locations, occur almost every week and can add 1–2 hours per store in those weeks.

Base hours average 3–6 hours per week across all stores, depending on store size and workload. Additional hours, typically 1–2 hours per week per store, are frequently assigned for special projects, with higher demand from January through June. The role involves continuous physical activity and requires meeting weekly deadlines. It offers workplace independence and some flexibility in working hours, subject to client requirements. Scheduling details are reviewed during the interview.

Requirements

• At least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Reliable vehicle and minimum state auto insurance coverage.
• Ability to remain on your feet for long periods while accessing products throughout the store.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, reach 6 feet in the air, and bend, stretch, stoop, and stand.
• Ability to perform repetitive movements with hands, wrists, arms, and legs for prolonged periods.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Deadline-driven and self-starting approach.
• Access to reliable Wi-Fi.
• Tech savvy.
