About The Position

Responsible for the salvage and recycling of donated goods and materials. This role involves operating machinery, sorting items, and ensuring efficient use of space and materials. The position requires physical stamina and the ability to work in a routine environment with occasional periods of high stress and short deadlines.

Requirements

• Medium work, occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force and/or up to 50 pounds of lifting, frequent lifting up to 25 pounds, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, climbing, reaching, handling, hearing, talking, seeing and repetitive movement.
• Availability to work after-hours for special projects
• Availability to work weekends and some holidays
• Inside generally 100%, however, may include outside work on occasion.
• Limited emotional effort. Work environment routine with periods of isolated high stress. Short deadlines requiring some overtime.
• GED/High school diploma preferred.
• One (1) year experience in retail operations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate bale machine and trash compactor
• Recognize and follow proper material content
• Know the mechanical operation of both machines
• Understand and demonstrate safe operation
• Salvage and recycling
• Empty metal containers into metal roll off
• Separate salvage shoes/purses/hats
• Make proper use of available space and materials
