Requirements

  • University degree (Bachelor's), preferably in administration, commerce, marketing, finance, or a related field.
  • At least 4 to 6 years of experience in retail sales, distribution network management, or sales analysis within the consumer packaged goods (CPG) or alcoholic beverage sector, including some experience in directing or supervising a third-party sales team or distributors.
  • Proven experience in selling or managing a portfolio of premium brands in Quebec, with sophisticated multi-point-of-sale clients (banners and independents).
  • Strong analytical skills and financial acumen, with a keen eye for detail; comfortable reviewing distributor financial statements and reconciling discrepancies.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) is an asset.
  • Solid knowledge of the Quebec retail network, particularly in the beer or alcoholic beverage sector.
  • Bilingual (French and English) – written and spoken.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence without direct hierarchical authority over distributor, finance, and logistics teams.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Sales Director – Quebec, identify growth opportunities within the distribution network (grocery stores, convenience stores, mass retailers) and direct the distributor's resources towards these opportunities to achieve annual volume, revenue, and net profit objectives.
  • Define monthly sales objectives and forecasts in collaboration with the distributor's team, then develop and disseminate commercial strategies.
  • Ensure the seamless launch of new products and innovations in the Quebec retail network; monitor the performance of new products.
  • Conduct regular field audits on retail pricing, shelf placement, and promotion execution to ensure compliance with agreed-upon programs and pricing structure.
  • Identify and correct pricing discrepancies, strategy deviations, or compliance shortcomings in stores, working directly with distributor representatives to resolve them.
  • Manage and maintain performance dashboards for the distributor's sales team, translating audit findings into clear and actionable advice.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Marketing Manager to track market activity and ROI, and integrate audit findings into future program design.
  • Review and analyze the monthly financial package provided by the distributor, including sales, margins, pricing, and deductions.
  • Verify the accuracy of financial data, identify deviations from forecasts, and report anomalies to the finance department and Sales Director as needed.
  • Track, consolidate, and analyze retail sales data by customer, banner, and brand to identify trends, deviations, and opportunities.
  • Monitor distributor performance against sales targets, budgets, and promotional objectives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the company, the finance department, and the logistics department for distributor data requests, billing and deduction inquiries, and order or inventory issues impacting in-store execution.
  • Coordinate with the logistics department to ensure product availability aligns with promotional calendars and new item launches.
  • Assist the finance department in reconciling distributor-reported figures with internal financial forecasts.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on retail sales and distribution (by banner), accompanied by actionable analysis for the Sales Director.
  • Report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including retrospective analyses of promotional programs conducted with retail banners and the results of pricing and execution audits.
  • Leverage data from syndicated sources and distributors (e.g., Nielsen) to track market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activity, and formulate recommendations to enhance brand visibility and positioning in Quebec.
