About The Position

This part-time position involves greeting customers, completing fast and friendly transactions, and supporting Goodwill's mission. The role requires strong cash handling skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to operate a point-of-sale (POS) system. Associates will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized sales floor, assisting customers with inquiries, and performing opening and closing procedures. The position offers Daily Pay and is eligible for paid holidays, sick leave, jury duty, and bereavement leave. Contributions to a retirement plan are also available. Goodwill of Colorado is a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) eligible employer.

Requirements

  • Accurate with numbers and general calculations.
  • Understand the value of different coins and United States (US) currency.
  • Able to use basic math such as adding, subtracting, and multiplication.
  • Able to effectively communicate with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
  • Able to operate a computer-based cash register and credit card machine.
  • Able to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting up to eight (8) hours per day.
  • Ability to see color for accurate transactions.
  • Must be able to work a varied schedule to include weekends, evenings, and holidays with occasional overtime as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong cash handling skills are highly preferred.
  • A High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • One (1) year of retail sales or cash handling experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Verifying till counts, providing accurate cashier transactions, and maintaining a balanced cash drawer using a computer-based point-of-sale system.
  • Driving the roundup initiative by engaging customers and sharing knowledge of the mission it supports.
  • Providing excellent customer service upholding company values.
  • Assisting customers with questions, concerns, and purchases.
  • Completing opening and closing procedures.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized sales floor by regularly cleaning and organizing shelves and racks, picking items up off the floor, putting away product from racks, carts, or baskets, as well as putting away returned or unwanted items.
  • Providing a safe, clean, organized, and well stocked POS, sales floor, and restrooms.
  • Initiating customer delight/power hour calls over intercom to organize and clean sales floor.
  • Following all retail center policies and procedures.
  • Following all safety processes and procedures to help provide a safe working environment for employees and customers.
  • Cross-training in other departments or areas; acting as a back-up for other areas as required.
  • Performing additional responsibilities as required.
