About The Position

This part-time position involves greeting customers, completing transactions efficiently and in a friendly manner, and supporting Goodwill's mission by encouraging customers to round up their purchases. Excellent customer service and strong cash handling skills are essential. The role also requires maintaining an organized sales floor and operating a point-of-sale system accurately.

Requirements

  • Ability to greet customers and complete transactions.

  • Ability to verify till counts and maintain a balanced cash drawer using a computer-based point-of-sale system.
  • Ability to drive the roundup initiative.
  • Ability to assist customers with questions, concerns, and purchases.
  • Ability to complete opening and closing procedures.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized sales floor.
  • Ability to provide a safe, clean, organized, and well-stocked POS, sales floor, and restrooms.
  • Ability to follow all retail center policies and procedures.
  • Ability to follow all safety processes and procedures.
  • Ability to cross-train in other departments or areas.
  • Accurate with numbers and general calculations.
  • Understanding the value of different coins and US currency.
  • Ability to use basic math (adding, subtracting, multiplication).
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
  • Ability to operate a computer-based cash register and credit card machine.
  • Ability to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting up to eight hours per day.
  • Ability to see color for accurate transactions.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays with occasional overtime as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • A High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • One (1) year of retail sales or cash handling experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting customers in a welcoming manner and responding professionally to inquiries.
  • Operating a point-of-sale (POS) cash register system to ensure accurate product and pricing at the time of purchase.
  • Verifying till counts, providing accurate cashier transactions, and maintaining a balanced cash drawer.
  • Driving the roundup initiative by engaging customers and explaining the mission it supports.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked sales floor, including shelves, racks, and restrooms.
  • Completing opening and closing procedures.
  • Initiating customer delight/power hour calls over the intercom for sales floor organization and cleaning.
  • Following all retail center policies, procedures, and safety processes.
  • Cross-training in other departments or areas and acting as a backup as required.
  • Performing additional responsibilities as needed.
