About The Position

This part-time position involves greeting customers, completing fast and friendly transactions, and supporting Goodwill's mission. The role requires excellent customer service skills and strong cash handling abilities are highly preferred. Associates will be responsible for operating a point-of-sale (POS) cash register system, maintaining a well-stocked and organized sales floor, and assisting customers with inquiries and purchases. The job also includes opening and closing procedures, maintaining a clean sales floor and restrooms, and potentially cross-training in other departments.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
One (1) year of retail sales or cash handling experience preferred.
Accuracy with numbers and general calculations.
Understanding of the value of different coins and US currency.
Ability to use basic math (adding, subtracting, multiplication).
Effective communication with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
Ability to operate a computer-based cash register and credit card machine.
Ability to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting up to eight (8) hours per day.
Ability to see color for accurate transactions.
Ability to work a varied schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Occasional overtime as necessary.
Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily.

Responsibilities

Verifying till counts and providing accurate cashier transactions.
Maintaining a balanced cash drawer using a computer-based point-of-sale system.
Driving the roundup initiative by engaging customers and sharing mission knowledge.
Providing excellent customer service and upholding company values.
Assisting customers with questions, concerns, and purchases.
Completing opening and closing procedures.
Maintaining a clean and organized sales floor, including shelves, racks, and product display.
Ensuring a safe, clean, organized, and well-stocked POS, sales floor, and restrooms.
Initiating customer delight/power hour calls over the intercom.
Following all retail center policies and procedures.
Following all safety processes and procedures.
Cross-training in other departments or areas as required.
Performing additional responsibilities as needed.
