Retail Sales Associate at Bellevue
About The Position
Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries is hiring Retail Sales Associates at its Bellevue location. The position provides friendly, professional customer service in and around the store and over the phone, maintains the sales floor and other store areas, processes sales transactions, and supports store operations. Associates work with team members in a fast-paced environment to prepare and display merchandise and provide operational support to management. The posting lists two full-time positions and one part-time position. Pay is $13.00 per hour. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
- Ability to work a flexible schedule supporting store opening, production, and closing operations.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English with customers and Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries associates.
- Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills.
- Excellent sales and customer service skills, including the ability to anticipate customers’ needs.
- Ability to process information and merchandise through a computer system and POS register system, and to use a calculator.
- Basic math and cash-handling skills, including counting and giving change and maintaining an accurate register with or without a calculator.
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and twist for up to 8 hours.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently.
- Ability to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone.
- Close vision ability for computer work.
- Regular, predictable attendance as business demands dictate.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional, friendly, and courteous service to customers inside and outside the store and over the phone.
- Process sales transactions accurately using the POS system.
- Work a flexible schedule supporting store opening, production, and closing operations, including weekends and holidays.
- Maintain knowledge of merchandise and answer customer questions courteously and promptly.
- Maintain dressing room standards.
- Maintain sales floor presentation and communicate to management when products need to be added or removed.
- Keep the register area orderly and clean.
- Execute store security procedures.
- Communicate store messages using the paging system.
- Perform housekeeping as needed, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves, and dusting restrooms and dressing rooms.
- Assist donors and customers outside retail locations, greet donors, receive donations, and provide donation receipts.
- Communicate the organization’s mission and vision to donors and customers when requesting monetary donations at the POS.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
