Join Team Goodwill! This is a Full-Time position working 40 hours per week with a salary of $63,240/year. True North Goodwill is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Duluth, MN, dedicated to transforming lives through learning and the power of work. Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years management of retail store(s) required.
  • 3 years direct experience in retail sales, with a minimum of 3 years management experience in other employment considered.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to work with a wide range of people.
  • Flexibility – able to embrace the opportunity to try new processes and ideas.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on several projects at once.
  • Ability to lead teams in managing and embracing change.
  • Ability to hold direct and indirect reports accountable and demonstrate a high degree of proficiency and comfort with conflict resolution.
  • Ability to make decisions and act decisively.

  • Ability to drive to assigned store locations as scheduled or required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor degree in marketing, merchandising or related field desired.
  • Junior college or technical school training in merchandising with extensive retail experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Sustain high standards for merchandise layout, display, and housekeeping in assigned stores.
  • Develop and maintain a production environment for maximum personnel and equipment utilization.
  • Review and modify retail floor space allocation within assigned stores.
  • Recommend capital improvements and/or renovations.
  • Locate cost-effective sources for supplies, materials, and equipment through fair competition.
  • Apply fair and consistent personnel practices in recruitment, hiring, retention, dismissal, and training of assigned staff.
  • Schedule, supervise, and develop assigned staff using performance evaluations, job coaching, and other techniques.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop action plans for underperforming retail store locations.
  • Conduct quarterly onsite inspections of assigned retail store locations to identify deficiencies in customer service, production, flow, merchandising, cleanliness, recruiting, scheduling, inventory, safety, security, and management functions, and implement changes.
  • Ensure good stewardship of donations through proper handling and processing.
  • Maintain effective relationships with retail landlords.
  • Visit assigned stores quarterly or as needed, and serve as interim Store Manager during transitions or recruitment.
  • Stay informed about product knowledge, seasonal sales influences, goods availability, and appropriate pricing to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Set price guidelines and maintain/update product pricing.
  • Actively manage the progress of assigned retail stores toward budget objectives.
  • Participate in annual budget development.
  • Hold monthly meetings with Store Managers with recorded shared results.
  • Ensure retail operations and client services meet or exceed rehabilitation standards set by accreditation bodies.
  • Oversee safety aspects of assigned stores, including semi-annual safety inspections.
  • Serve as a member of Goodwill’s Safety Committee.
  • Participate in retail staff meetings, trainings, seminars, committee assignments, and other growth-oriented meetings.
  • Represent the agency positively to the community, vendors, and customers/donors.
  • Accept other assigned duties and responsibilities.
