Assists licensed pharmacists in technical duties related to the preparation and distribution of medications. This role involves accurately selecting, preparing, and labeling medications, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances. The technician will also assist with medication distribution, screen phone calls, manage pharmacy procurement and inventory, and perform various documentation tasks. Responsibilities may include nonsterile compounding, sterile IV admixture, and inspecting medication storage areas. The role also supports quality improvement initiatives, assists in training other technicians, and ensures compliance with all organizational policies and legal standards. Additionally, the technician will handle patient demographic information, data entry, insurance verification, label generation, and cashiering. Competence in third-party billing functions is required. The position may involve administering immunizations under pharmacist supervision and operating a vehicle to deliver medications and supplies. This role requires the ability to provide age-appropriate patient care.
