About The Position

The Retail Operations Manager will show dynamic leadership ability and motivate staff to exceed expectations of the customer and our client. This role involves ensuring the department's team is set with the operation in mind, including hiring, integrating, supervising, evaluating performance, developing, coaching, issuing documentation, and managing employee exits. The manager will build and develop the department’s leadership team, pushing for innovative performance and leadership through positive coaching and challenging. They will develop training programs to train, motivate, and mentor employees. This position requires remaining knowledgeable of and managing in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal laws. A clean, safe, and organized work environment must be maintained, along with upholding a complete understanding of company policies and procedures. A strong positive relationship with the client must be maintained, along with communication with the buyer and vendors. The role involves performing the steps of SSA EXTRA Guest Service to ensure a memorable experience for every guest and client, and setting expectations for the department under EXTRA Guest Service. Ensuring all cash handling procedures are in effect at all times and troubleshooting/maintaining POS functionality for daily operation are key responsibilities. The manager will manage the POS and back-end data system, oversee proper logistics of product distribution, and ensure the cleanliness of all shops and displays. Merchandise presentation standards must be met to maximize sales, and product must be merchandised to maximize sales. Sales should be maximized through having the right product and communicating inventory opportunities to the Retail Operations Manager and Buyer. The manager will oversee stock and display product in shops, and oversee the completion of the daily "Shop List" as necessary. Maintenance and repair of the retail facility and equipment will be facilitated as necessary. A warehousing plan will be developed to assure easy access and accountability of merchandise, and deliveries of merchandise will be received and processed. Inventory of product will be overseen, and orders placed as needed in conjunction with the buyer. All operational functions of the Retail Department will be managed, inclusive of the inventory process as set by business standard. Invoices will be processed so that all vendors are paid within terms. Product will be merchandised to maximize sales. Daily, weekly, and monthly sales will be reported through an internal Ledger. Sales will be increased by promoting items or suggestive selling, and this will be instilled within all staff members. Operational reports and analyses will be prepared, setting forth progress, trends, and making appropriate recommendations. Sales and inventory will be analyzed to maximize opportunities. Payroll and controllable profit will be managed within established guidelines. Payroll budget percent expectations will be met by being strategic with coverage, on-call shifts, etc. Appropriate staff levels will be scheduled in accordance with budget and business forecast. Precedent will be set to achieve Sales, Per Cap & Controllable Budget. The unit will be supported in being an example for Company & Client guidelines with regard to Sustainability/Conservation efforts. Knowledge of efforts will be displayed in business application as well as giving adequate opportunity for teaching to unit staff as necessary. The SSA / Unit will be supported in driving community effort through hiring efforts, engagement activities, and focus on opportunities of giving back. Other tasks as deemed necessary will be performed.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to articulate to our client, General Manager, Buyer and HQ personnel.
  • Proven leadership skills with an understanding of the importance of team building/development, while fostering partnerships.
  • Exceptional problem solving/decision making skills combined with the ability to be organized.
  • Demonstrates financial management, merchandising, analytical, planning and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to remain flexible in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer knowledge and skill level for basic office functions.
  • Physical ability to stay in one place for extended periods and to move and handle boxes (10-35lbs) as necessary to operation.
  • Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Three to Five years in retail operations management.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
