At Regions, the Retail Operations Manager (ROM) performs an independent quality assurance role in support of risk and operational controls in an average of 25+ branches. ROMs assess risk knowledge and performance via the branch visit process and partner with central groups to provide oversight, support, coaching, and training for the geographies. The Retail Operations Manager position goes beyond reviewing, inspecting operational work in branches, and reacting to issues as they arise. The position will require identifying operational and systematic risks early, investing in strong leaders who can operate independently to create operational excellence, and putting solutions in place so problems do not reoccur. Success in this role is about building a branch network that understands how to solve issues and performs at the highest standards of operational soundness consistently.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years of experience in managing a team
  • Five (5) years of branch operational experience
  • Ability to travel frequently
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Good Problem-solving skills capabilities
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledgeable of branch processes, policies, and procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation

Responsibilities

  • Assists branches with complex operational and service issues
  • Reviews branch processes and procedures
  • Inspects branches via the branch visit process to check for compliance with control, risk, and security procedures
  • Coaches and provides guidance to branch associates to address any operational knowledge gaps
  • Serves as liaison to central support units and business group partners
  • Works with the Branch Resolution Team, when needed, to ensure timely responses to complaints
  • Delivers Branch Manager risk management onboarding and training
  • Meets monthly with Consumer Banking Managers to discuss Branch Risk and Control Assessment findings and issues
  • Often meets less clearly defined demands and may influence junior colleagues
  • May act as a mentor junior staff
