About The Position

Altman Plants is hiring a Retail Merchandiser to work at Home Depot garden center locations, independently and as part of a team. The role involves stocking and displaying fresh plant material from delivery racks, maintaining plants and displays in sales-ready condition, and communicating with coworkers, vendors, customers, and retail associates. The position also includes removing unsellable plants, assisting with inventory counts, resets, displays, and special events, and keeping work areas clean and safe. Team members use tools such as pallet jacks, pruners, and ladders, follow company policies and safety guidelines, and prepare empty delivery racks for pickup. Work takes place outdoors in varied weather and seasonal conditions. Budgeted hours vary with the season, weather, and sales demands. The listed schedule is Monday through Friday with weekends included, for 25–40 hours weekly. Altman Plants provides paid training and describes flexible scheduling options. Altman Plants is a family-owned, privately held nursery and garden-center service provider. The company grows cacti, succulents, annuals, perennials, and shrubs, and partners with retail customers nationwide.

Requirements

Positive attitude and teamwork skills, with the ability to work unsupervised at times.
Communicate well with customers, coworkers, managers, and store personnel.
Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently.
Comfort working in various weather conditions.
Proof of driver's license and auto insurance.
Reliable transportation to and from assigned stores.
Clean DMV driving record.
Proficiency with mobile apps for clocking in and out and completing tasks.

Responsibilities

Stock and display fresh plant material in garden centers from delivery racks.
Maintain a sales-ready appearance for plants and displays.
Work and communicate cooperatively with coworkers, vendors, and retail associates.
Remove and dispose of non-sellable plants.
Assist with inventory cycle counts.
Assist with resets, building displays, and special events.
Follow company policies and safety guidelines.
Keep work areas clean and safe.
Use tools such as pallet jacks, pruners, and ladders.
Work assigned schedules, including weekends and holidays.
Ensure empty delivery racks are ready and available for pickup.
