About The Position

Altman Plants is hiring a Retail Merchandiser to work at retail store locations as part of a team and independently. The role stocks and displays fresh plant material from delivery racks, maintains a sales-ready appearance for plants and displays, and communicates regularly with coworkers, vendors, retail associates, customers, managers, and store personnel. The position also supports inventory counts, display resets, special events, and the removal of non-sellable plants. Work takes place outdoors in changing weather and seasonal conditions, with schedules and budgeted hours varying based on seasonal workflow, weather, and business needs. The stated schedule is Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with Tuesday and Sunday off; hours are 36–40 per week, and schedules are subject to change. Paid training is provided. Altman Plants is a family-owned, privately held nursery and a supplier of cacti and succulents, annuals, perennials, and shrubs, partnering with retail customers nationwide.

Requirements

Positive attitude and teamwork skills, with the ability to work unsupervised at times.
Ability to communicate well with customers, coworkers, managers, and store personnel.
Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently.
Comfort working in various weather conditions.
Proof of a driver's license and auto insurance.
Reliable transportation to and from assigned stores.
Clean DMV driving record.
Proficiency with mobile apps for clocking in and out and completing tasks.
Ability to perform frequent standing, walking, carrying, pushing, pulling, kneeling, stooping, and bending, including standing for long periods and pushing loaded and empty delivery racks daily.

Responsibilities

Stock and display fresh plant material in garden centers from delivery racks.
Maintain a sales-ready appearance for plants and displays.
Work and communicate cooperatively with coworkers, vendors, and retail associates.
Remove and dispose of non-sellable plants.
Assist with inventory cycle counts.
Assist with resets, building displays, and special events.
Follow company policies and safety guidelines.
Keep work areas clean and safe.
Use tools such as pallet jacks, pruners, and ladders.
Work assigned schedules, including weekends and holidays.
Ensure empty delivery racks are ready and available for pickup.
