About The Position

Altman Plants is hiring a Retail Merchandiser to work at retail garden center locations, independently and as part of a team. The role involves stocking and displaying fresh plant material, maintaining plants and displays in sales-ready condition, and communicating with coworkers, vendors, customers, and retail associates. Work takes place outdoors in changing weather and seasonal conditions. Budgeted hours vary by season and are affected by weather and sales demands. Paid training is provided, and flexible scheduling options are offered. Altman Plants is a family-owned, privately held nursery that partners with retail customers nationwide and grows cacti, succulents, annuals, perennials, and shrubs. The company highlights opportunities for growth and relocation. The schedule is four days a week Monday through Friday and one day a week on Saturday or Sunday, with shifts ranging between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Work includes physical activity such as standing, walking, carrying, pushing and pulling, and using tools and delivery racks. The work environment includes exposure to varied weather, dust, soil, wind, uneven pavement, moving mechanical parts, and moderate noise.

Requirements

Positive attitude and teamwork skills, with the ability to work unsupervised at times.
Ability to communicate well with customers, coworkers, managers, and store personnel.
Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently.
Comfort working in various weather conditions.
Proof of a driver's license and auto insurance.
Reliable transportation to and from assigned stores.
Clean DMV driving record.
Proficiency with mobile apps for clocking in and out and completing tasks.
Ability to perform frequent standing, walking, carrying, pushing, and pulling; frequent kneeling, stooping, and bending; and standing for long periods.

Responsibilities

Stock and display fresh plant material in garden centers from delivery racks.
Maintain plants and displays in a sales-ready appearance.
Work and communicate cooperatively with coworkers, vendors, and retail associates.
Remove and dispose of non-sellable plants.
Assist with inventory cycle counts.
Assist with resets, building displays, and special events.
Follow company policies and safety guidelines.
Keep work areas clean and safe.
Use tools such as pallet jacks, pruners, and ladders.
Work assigned schedules, including weekends and holidays.
Ensure empty delivery racks are ready and available for pickup.
Push loaded and empty delivery racks daily.
