About The Position

The Retail Merchandise Associate is responsible for delivering a highly satisfying customer experience by engaging and interacting with customers, following customer experience principles, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment. The associate adheres to operational, merchandise, loss-prevention, labor, and safety standards, and may be cross-trained in multiple store areas to support business needs. The role includes customer service and checkout tasks, merchandising and merchandise processing, store recovery and cleanliness, and participation in shrink-reduction and safety programs. The position is located at TJ Maxx Store 0623, 1940 Rio Hill Center, Charlottesville, Virginia. Starting pay is $13.75–$14.25 per hour, with actual starting pay based on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Role-model established customer experience practices with internal and external customers.
• Support a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect.
• Accurately ring customer purchases and returns and count change according to operating procedures.
• Promote credit and loyalty programs.
• Maintain the merchandising philosophy and follow established merchandising procedures and standards.
• Process and prepare merchandise for the sales floor according to company procedures and standards.
• Initiate and participate in store recovery as needed throughout the day.
• Maintain sales-floor organization, cleanliness, and recovery standards and help maintain the cleanliness of the entire store.
• Provide and accept recognition and constructive feedback.
• Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
• Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
• Participate in safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Work in multiple store areas when cross-trained to support business needs.
