About The Position

The Retail Merchandise Associate is responsible for delivering a highly satisfying customer experience by engaging and interacting with customers, following customer experience principles, and maintaining a clean and organized store. The associate follows operational, merchandising, and loss prevention standards and may be cross-trained in multiple store areas to support business needs.

The role includes assisting with customer transactions and returns, promoting credit and loyalty programs, preparing merchandise for the sales floor, maintaining merchandising and recovery standards, and supporting store safety and shrink-reduction efforts. The associate contributes to a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect, and works collaboratively with peers and supervisors. This is a part-time seasonal position at the HomeGoods store in Vernon Hills, Illinois. The starting pay range is $15.00 to $15.50 per hour; actual pay depends on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a highly satisfying customer experience by engaging and interacting with customers.

• Accurately ring customer purchases and returns and provide the correct change according to operating procedures.
• Promote credit and loyalty programs.
• Maintain the merchandising philosophy and follow established merchandising procedures and standards.
• Process and prepare merchandise for the sales floor according to company procedures and standards.
• Initiate and participate in store recovery throughout the day as needed.
• Maintain sales-floor organization, cleanliness, and recovery standards and participate in maintaining the cleanliness of the entire store.
• Provide and accept recognition and constructive feedback.
• Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
• Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
• Participate in safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
