About The Position

Building Value is a social enterprise powered by Easterseals Redwood whose mission is to accelerate careers in construction for people facing economic and employment challenges. Through our training program, we deconstruct homes and offices to salvage building materials, appliances, and architectural gems for sale to the public. The Retail Manager manages Retail staff and program participants to transfer salvaged materials into the store and ensure a pleasant and positive shopping experience for customers and donors. The ideal Retail Manager will have vision, creativity, and ability to use salvaged materials to produce upcycled items. You will be responsible for maintaining an organized, well-merchandised, clean, and profitable retail store, and with your team, providing an exceptional customer experience. In collaboration with the Building Value management team, the Retail Manager works to further our mission of preparing individuals, specifically women, people of color, and second chance individuals for entry and a career in the construction trades.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a well-merchandised, clean, and profitable Retail outlet.
  • Regularly review sales results, expense management, and financials.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train Retail Associate and program participants who work in the store.
  • Manage donation pick-up and delivery schedule.
  • Approve Retail Associate payroll in Paycor.
  • Stage, clean, and organize breezeway and showroom floor for visual appeal and maximizing space utilization.
  • Maximize Retail revenues by engaging with customers, providing advice, and upselling.
  • Work with Marketing Specialist on campaigns and sales to improve Retail foot traffic and sales.
  • Maintain monthly dashboard of Retail metrics to understand trends and keep sales high.
  • Order supplies for maintenance, cleaning, and everyday needs of Retail facility.
  • Open and close store as necessary, with access to gate codes and building alarm code.
  • Count daily receipts and process end-of-day reports.
  • Run Square reports.
  • Make bank deposits.
  • Utilize P.O.S. system to accurately check out customers.
