About The Position

The Retail Manager is responsible for the successful retail and cafeteria operation of Food & Nutrition Services under the direction of the Director of Dining Services. The role oversees retail service delivery, staff, financial controls, customer satisfaction, and compliance with company policies and presentation standards.

Requirements

Good knowledge of food and catering trends, with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food-cost controls, marketing, and presentation.
Experience with cash retail operations.
Supervisory, leadership, management, and coaching skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate with management, customers, and associates.
Knowledge of financial, budgetary, accounting, and computational practices.
Proficient computer skills, including computer programs, Microsoft Office, email, and the Internet.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science degree in Food Services Technology/Management or a related field, or an Associate of Arts degree plus three years of directly related experience.
One to three years of retail operational foodservice management experience, depending on formal degree or training.
P&L accountability and contract-managed service experience.
Retail marketing experience.

Responsibilities

Plan and supervise special functions.
Maintain cash controls and payroll records.
Oversee hiring and training of hourly team members.
Ensure customer satisfaction and good public relations through the safe and efficient use of resources.
Direct staff in providing scheduled retail services in accordance with corporate policies and presentation standards.
Train staff in customer service, proper portioning, cashier skills, and safety and sanitation.
Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reports on time and in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.
Communicate effectively with team members, patients, and families.
Implement and maintain cash-handling standards to eliminate theft of services or company funds.
