About The Position

The Retail Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks for store loss prevention and safety programs while maintaining positive relationships with Store Management. The role helps identify and resolve internal and external theft, supports shrink-reduction initiatives, and promotes a safe store environment. It conducts apprehensions in accordance with established policies and guidelines, participates in investigations and surveillance as assigned, and provides timely, courteous, and knowledgeable customer service. The position also requires accurate and timely paperwork, appropriate evidence handling, and professional participation in legal activities as needed.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs.
• Maintain positive relationships with Store Management.
• Conduct apprehensions within established policies and guidelines, and adhere to shoplifter policies.
• Communicate with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
• Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
• Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service to customers.
• Promote honesty and integrity, maintain confidentiality, and observe, apprehend, or deter acts of dishonesty from outside sources.
• Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
• Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
• Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and on time.
• Maintain appropriate evidence, understand law enforcement procedures, and participate professionally in legal activities as needed, such as police calls.
• Coordinate and complete shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
• Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
• Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs, and encourage Associate use of shrink-reduction resources.
• Promote safety awareness and support maintenance of a safe environment.
