Retail Loss Prevention Detective
About The Position
The Retail Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks for store loss prevention and safety programs while maintaining positive relationships with Store Management. The role conducts apprehensions within established policies and guidelines, communicates with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives, and identifies and resolves internal and external theft. It also supports store shrink-reduction goals and programs, encourages Associates to use shrink-reduction resources, and promotes safety awareness and a safe environment. The position provides timely, courteous, and knowledgeable customer service; promotes honesty and integrity while maintaining confidentiality; and participates in investigations and surveillance as assigned. It requires accurate, timely paperwork, appropriate evidence handling, understanding of law-enforcement procedures, and professional participation in legal activities as needed. The role coordinates shrink-related activities with Store Management and follows applicable labor laws, policies, and procedures. The position is based at Marshalls Store 1281 in Bristol, Tennessee, and has a starting pay range of $14.55 to $20.40 per hour.

- 0–2 years of retail or security experience.
Responsibilities
- Complete daily tasks required for store loss-prevention and safety programs.
- Maintain positive relationships with Store Management.
- Conduct apprehensions according to established policies and guidelines.
- Communicate with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
- Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
- Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable customer service.
- Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
- Observe, apprehend, and/or deter dishonesty from outside sources.
- Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
- Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
- Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and on time.
- Maintain appropriate evidence, understand law-enforcement procedures, and participate professionally in legal activities as needed, such as police calls.
- Coordinate shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
- Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
- Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
- Encourage Associate use of shrink-reduction resources.
- Promote safety awareness and support a safe environment.
