About The Position

The Retail Freight Team Leader, internally titled Receiving Team Leader, serves as a store keyholder and oversees the efficient operation and maintenance of the receiving area according to the company receiving area plan. The role is responsible for executing freight flow to the sales floor accurately, efficiently, and on time while following processing and visual merchandising standards. It also maintains receiving-area back stock and manages damaged goods to minimize profit loss. The Team Leader may act as Manager on Duty and may be responsible for opening and closing the store.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 6 months of experience with a mid- to large-size retailer.
• Schedule flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays regularly.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and delegate tasks while working within strict timeframes and deadlines.
• Positive attitude and ability to interact well with customers and Associates.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to push and pull up to 35 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Responsibilities

• Plan, unload, check in, and support the merchandising of distribution shipments.
• Receive, verify, and merchandise direct vendor shipments.
• Manage freight flow in the receiving area while maintaining equipment and a safe, orderly dock and exterior.
• Confirm the accuracy of incoming merchandise in accordance with company standards.
• Set up and design merchandise displays.
• Prepare and process outbound transfers of merchandise and fixtures as required.
• Direct the work of Associates assisting with freight flow processes.
• Act as Manager on Duty and complete additional assigned responsibilities, including opening and closing the store.
• Maintain back stock in the receiving area and manage damaged goods to minimize profit loss.
