About The Position

The Retail Custodian provides preventative cleaning services for a retail store in accordance with green cleaning methods and best industry practices. The position is accountable for behaving in accordance with divisional and organizational RISE values and expectations. The custodian maintains assigned areas so the store is clean, hazard-free within the custodian’s span of control, and customer-ready before opening. The role also involves maintaining assigned equipment and notifying a supervisor of repair or replacement needs and potential safety hazards.

Requirements

Two years of previous commercial cleaning experience.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to decipher and comprehend signs indicating danger.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, such as a scrubber and extractor, as required by site specifications.
Proven track record of dependability.
Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to communicate positively and consistently with customers, coworkers, and the supervisor, and deliver professional, consistent results.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening as required by the assigned site.

Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness of assigned retail-store areas, ensuring the store is clean, hazard-free within the custodian’s span of control, and customer-ready before opening.
Dust lights, furniture, shelves, and other horizontal surfaces.
Dry- and/or wet-mop hard floors, vacuum carpets, and empty and clean trash containers and ashtrays.
Spot-clean walls, carpets, and windows.
Use a high-speed buffer to burnish hard-floor surfaces.
Clean, maintain, and ensure the basic security of assigned equipment.
Notify the supervisor of equipment or facilities needing repair or replacement and of potential safety hazards.
