About The Position

The Retail Cleaning Associate is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized store environment, with a focus on floor care. The role includes operating floor-cleaning equipment and cleaning floors, glass, windows, and other store areas. The associate follows operational, merchandise, health and safety, and loss prevention standards, and is cross-trained to support multiple areas of the store as business needs require.

The associate models customer service practices and contributes to a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect. The position also supports front-end coverage, store recovery, merchandising and signage standards, safety awareness, and effective communication with management and fellow associates. Other duties may be assigned.

This is a temporary seasonal position at the TJ Maxx store at 3670 McKinley Parkway in Buffalo, New York. The starting pay range is USD $16.00–$16.50 per hour; actual starting pay depends on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain floor-care cleanliness standards, including operating and maintaining the scrubber and buffer.
• Dust mop, damp mop, sweep, vacuum, dust, and spot-clean glass and windows.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and recovery standards throughout the store, including the sales floor, single queue, associate lounge, backroom, and restrooms.
• Follow company health and safety policies, including refilling essential items in the lounge, restrooms, and front end.
• Cross-train in other store areas, including the backroom, front end, and sales floor, and support front-end coverage needs.
• Model established customer experience practices with internal and external customers.
• Support a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect.
• Follow merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
• Initiate and participate in store recovery throughout the day as needed.
• Follow operational and loss prevention controls and company guidelines, including shrink-reduction practices.
• Communicate accurately and effectively with management and associates.
• Follow labor laws and company policies and procedures, including meal and break-period policies.
• Participate in safety awareness and help maintain a safe environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
