About The Position

The Retail Backroom Coordinator executes receiving and merchandising standards, helping Associates process merchandise efficiently and effectively as a team. The role supports an excellent customer experience through customer engagement, a clean and organized store, and exceptional customer service. The Coordinator manages truck delivery and merchandise processing priorities, trains and mentors Associates, monitors productivity, and helps ensure merchandise is properly tagged, hung, secured, and coded. The role organizes and rotates back stock, maintains backroom organization and recovery standards, and upholds merchandising and signage standards. The Coordinator also communicates priorities and progress with management and Associates, supports training, safety, compliance, and store shrink-reduction efforts, and promotes credit and loyalty programs. This is a part-time position at the TJ Maxx store at 2467 W Stadium Blvd, Ann Arbor, Michigan. The schedule is flexible and may include nights and weekends. The role requires the ability to lift heavy objects, with or without reasonable accommodation, and includes other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.

One year of retail experience and six months of leadership experience.

Responsibilities

Create a positive internal and external customer experience.
Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
Orchestrate truck delivery, prioritizing merchandise processing onto the sales floor.
Train and mentor Associates on merchandising and processing principles.
Ensure merchandise is properly tagged, hung, secured, and coded.
Communicate with the Coordinator on Duty to support efficient flow of goods to the sales floor.
Ensure Associates complete tasks and activities according to the store plan; prioritize as needed.
Monitor team productivity and coach Associates as necessary.
Organize and rotate back stock for easy replenishment.
Maintain merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
Maintain organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards for the backroom.
Ensure compliance with recycling and, where applicable, hazardous waste programs.
Communicate priorities accurately and effectively with management and Associates and provide progress updates.
Provide and accept recognition and constructive feedback.
Partner with Management on Associate training needs to increase effectiveness.
Ensure adherence to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
Promote credit and loyalty programs.
Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
Promote safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
