About The Position

The Retail Associate works in the Battleshop gift shop at the Battleship Missouri Memorial in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, serving guests and supporting retail operations. The role involves creating a welcoming guest experience, processing purchases, stocking and merchandising merchandise, maintaining the shop, and communicating guest feedback and inventory needs to retail leadership. Associates also work with the warehouse team to pull and replenish items as needed and support company, client, sustainability, inclusion, and community initiatives. The position is part-time, pays $18 per hour, and offers flexible scheduling with primarily daytime shifts. The shop is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and independently, with flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Basic computer skills, including POS systems, email, internet, and Excel.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, move, and handle boxes and merchandise; the posting cites lifting up to 25 pounds in one section and 10–35 pounds in another.
• Ability to climb ladders and work indoors and outdoors.
• Availability for varied hours and days, including at least one weekend day per week, military holidays, and occasional evenings or other nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to pass a background check for Ford Island access.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and provide memorable, prompt, and efficient service, including following the SSA EXTRA Guest Service steps.
• Process purchases and maintain a balanced cash drawer as assigned.
• Stock and replenish merchandise, supplies, counter areas, floor displays, stands, and cabinets neatly and accurately.
• Notify retail leadership when items are low or guests make special requests, and relay relevant customer comments to a supervisor.
• Work with the warehouse team to pull and fill items as needed.
• Maintain clean, safe, organized, and welcoming work and service areas; clean tables, chairs, and equipment as needed.
• Merchandise products to maximize sales and increase sales through promotions or suggestive selling.
• Follow company policies and procedures and support company and client sustainability and conservation guidelines.
• Promote an inclusive and supportive team environment and contribute to community engagement and giving-back efforts.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
