About The Position

Under the direction of the Bookstore Management, the Retail Associate – II is responsible for assisting with the coordination, development, and implementation of all daily functions. This role involves providing excellent guest service, demonstrating superior knowledge of store products and services, and assisting customers in all aspects of service fulfillment. The associate will cross-train and work in all areas of the store as needed, perform sales support functions related to POS and e-commerce, and handle general housekeeping, stocking, organizing, pricing, and merchandising duties. Additionally, the role requires using computerized software for stock information and operating a cash register, receiving, verifying, sorting, and distributing goods, making on-campus deliveries, representing the store at campus events, and assisting with clerical duties, research, and special projects. The associate will also answer telephone calls and emails, follow up with appropriate personnel, and may provide training and guidance to other student workers.

Requirements

  • Must be a current and active CSULB student enrolled in a minimum of 6 units.
  • Proficiency in both written and verbal communication in English.
  • Ability to perform complex tasks without detailed supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Individual initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Proficient with PC, and Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to understand and comply with University and Beach Shops policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous retail, customer service, or warehouse experience is preferred.
