About The Position

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking professional, adaptable Mobile Retail Security Officers to support seven supermarket stores across Edinburgh. This dynamic, fast-paced role involves covering different stores, responding to incidents, and supporting sites according to operational needs. Start and finish times vary by store or shift; the earliest start is 07:00 and the latest finish is 22:00. The officer will help protect people, property, and stock, deter retail crime, and provide excellent customer service.

Requirements

• Right to work in the UK.
• Ability to pass an enhanced DBS check and BS7858 security clearance.
• Valid SIA licence (Door Supervisor or Security Guarding).
• Relevant security experience.
• Full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle.
• Strong observation and decision-making skills.
• Confidence handling confrontation and conflict situations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Reliable, proactive, and professional attitude.
• Flexibility to work across multiple locations and varied shifts.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

• Previous experience in retail security or customer-facing roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide a visible security presence to deter theft, anti-social behaviour, and store-related incidents.
• Conduct regular patrols of shop floors, entrances, and store perimeters.
• Monitor CCTV systems and identify suspicious activity in real time.
• Respond promptly and effectively to incidents, alarms, and emergencies.
• Carry out searches in line with company policies and legal requirements.
• Liaise with store management and local teams to address risks and support loss prevention strategies.
• Produce clear, accurate incident reports in a timely manner.
• Deliver a professional, approachable customer experience and assist with queries when required.
• De-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely.
• Comply with health and safety, legal, and client-specific procedures.
• Travel between sites as required and support wider security operations.
