About The Position

The role of the ReStore Associate is to assist with general operations of the ReStore, servicing the needs of both shoppers, donors, and volunteers. The ReStore Associate assists customers with sales and requests for information, processes and organizes donations, thanking donors for their support, and works closely with our volunteers. As an integral part of our team, this position has a significant impact on the success of our ReStores and our ability to raise funds and awareness in support of Habitat’s mission.

Requirements

  • Enthusiasm for the mission and vision of Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity.
  • Experience in retail, customer service, or non-profit work preferred.
  • Customer Service Mindset
  • Experience working with volunteers a plus.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and a team player.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Valid New York State Driver’s License and clean record (CDL not required).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to shoppers and donors, fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Answer customer questions in person, by phone, and via email, promptly and courteously.
  • Receive, price, and process donated items.
  • Maintain inventory on the sales floor and ensure an inviting shopping experience.
  • Support cash register operations as needed.
  • Cultivate lasting relationships with a diverse group of volunteers, providing leadership and encouraging teamwork and camaraderie.
  • Assist with housekeeping and maintenance of the store and warehouse.
  • Help maintain a safe store environment. Demonstrate safe practices and provide safety guidance to volunteers as needed (especially when moving bulky or heavy items).
  • Drive safely, demonstrating exemplary driving skills and courtesy to others.
  • Thank all donors for their support and offer information on how their contributions impact Habitat’s mission and work in the local community.
  • Complete donation paperwork and other documentation as required.
  • Screen donations and politely decline items that do not meet our criteria.
  • Safely load, secure, transport, and unload donations.
  • Participate in fundraising and events.
  • Act as an ambassador to promote the mission and values of Habitat for Humanity.
  • Assist with maintaining building safety and accessibility, including sidewalk snow removal.
