About The Position

The Restorative Nurse Aide is a key member of the nursing team who provides restorative nursing techniques to assigned residents, using structured treatment modalities to improve residents’ quality of life. The role supports residents’ functional abilities and care needs while working with the nursing and therapy teams. The position also advocates for residents and helps maintain a warm, caring, safe, and professional environment.

Requirements

• State Nursing Assistant Certification, where required.
• Good communication skills and the ability to read and write in English.
• Ability to document appropriately and perform technical procedures.
• Genuine caring for and interest in residents.
• Strong belief in the Restorative Nursing Philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Perform restorative programs for identified residents, including passive and active range-of-motion exercises, general strengthening exercises, ambulation and transfer training, activities of daily living, assigned nursing whirlpools, placement of restorative devices and equipment, positioning, and restorative feeding.
• Document daily on the treatment grid and weekly in progress notes.
• Notify the restorative nurse coordinator or appropriate therapy department about problems, referrals, or needed reassessments.
• Report to the Director of Nursing and chart significant changes in residents’ conditions or motivational levels.
• Reinforce team management of bowel and bladder programs and work with nurse aides on related procedures.
• Attend meetings and in-services as required.
• Serve as a resident advocate and motivate others.
