About The Position

The Restorative Nurse Aide is a key member of the nursing team and provides restorative nursing techniques to assigned residents to improve their quality of life through structured treatment modalities. The role includes carrying out restorative programs, documenting resident progress, communicating concerns and needed referrals, supporting bowel and bladder programs, and advocating for residents. The position is with Diversicare, which provides post-acute care services at skilled nursing and long-term care centers.

Requirements

State Nursing Assistant Certification, where required.
Good communication skills and ability to read and write English.
Ability to document appropriately and perform technical procedures.
Genuine caring for and interest in residents.
Strong belief in the Restorative Nursing Philosophy.

Responsibilities

Perform restorative programs for identified residents, including passive and active range-of-motion exercises, general strengthening exercises, ambulation and transfer training, activities of daily living, nursing whirlpools as assigned, placement of restorative devices and equipment, positioning, and restorative feeding programs.
Document daily on the treatment grid and weekly in progress notes.
Notify the restorative nurse coordinator or appropriate therapy department of problems, referrals, or needed reassessments.
Report to the Director of Nursing and chart significant changes in a resident’s condition or motivational level.
Reinforce team management of the bowel and bladder program and work with nurse aides on bowel and bladder procedures.
Attend meetings and in-services as required.
Serve as a resident advocate and motivate others.
