About The Position

Pei Wei Asian Kitchen is dedicated to serving authentic, Asian-inspired dishes that prioritize freshness without sacrificing speed. Since our inception in 2000, we have been committed to delivering bold flavors and high-quality meals prepared by expert chefs, ensuring every customer enjoys a delightful dining experience. At Pei Wei, Shift Leaders directly assist our Management teams and play a critical role in the success of our restaurants. Our Shift Leaders share the responsibility for training and guiding the behaviors of other team members. Success in this role requires the ability to work all aspects a restaurant from guest service to kitchen execution. Additionally capacity to understand and use back office systems is critical to the role. Being comfortable as a leader is essential since Shift Leaders are asked to take the lead role in the absence of the Management.

Requirements

  • External Candidates: 6 months shift lead experience
  • Internal Candidates: 4 months Pei Wei experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Action Oriented: Consistently works hard at an appropriate pace, Is energized by taking on challenges, Is committed to the brand and the team, Looks for and shares ways to improve team performance
  • Customer Focused: Puts needs of guests and team members first, Identifies ways to exceed customer expectations, Effectively handles difficult customer situations, Notifies Managers of customer service failures or employment concerns in a timely manner
  • Self-Motivated: Is passionate about individual and team success, Looks for ways to go above and beyond, Takes feedback positively and applies it to improve performance, Maintains high performance when leadership isn't present

Responsibilities

  • Certified/trained in Culinary and Front-of-the-House Operations and is able to perform duties & coach/verify on a daily basis
  • Certified food handler & can effectively teach and execute company safety and health procedures
  • Effectively communicates (through live convo's, email, etc) to Team Members, Management, & RSO
  • Acts as a role model in behaviors, dress, and guest interaction. Exhibits desired Pei Wei behaviors & standards & is a role model for dress, behavior, & interaction w/guests & team members
  • Effectively leads the team during the shift, through coaching, delegation, and verification.
  • Effectively follows/executes shift responsibilities as outlined on mod checklist -- to include admin, reporting, scheduling, SMG scores, cash handling, opening/closing duties, inventory/ordering, etc.
  • Effectively supports the onboarding/training process to include scheduling
  • Effectively performs cash handling procedures according to company policies
  • Effectively handles Guest relations & is able to coach team on behaviors to improve the guest experience
  • Promptly escalates any Employee relations concerns to the gm
  • Attends all store manager meetings
  • Effectively executes other tasks/duties as assigned
