About The Position

Four Seasons Hotel Minneapolis seeks a Food & Beverage Assistant Manager to join their talented team. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, controlling, and directing the work of employees in the Hotel’s Mara Restaurant and Bar Mara while ensuring guest satisfaction. The position involves selecting, training, evaluating, leading, motivating, coaching, and disciplining employees to ensure cultural and core standards are met. The Assistant Manager will be visible in the operation, provide recognition, promote good public relations, and handle guest concerns. They will also describe and ensure the quality of food items, ingredients, and preparation methods, and possess expert knowledge of wine and spirits. Additionally, the role involves controlling labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing, and inventory/cash control. Observing and recommending improvements for the physical condition of facilities and equipment is also a responsibility. The Assistant Manager will develop and maintain an elegantly appointed environment with superior staff, control reservations and seating patterns, and participate in employee performance evaluations. Other tasks may be assigned by management.

Requirements

  • A college degree specializing in hotel/restaurant management or equivalent experience is required.
  • One to two years previous experience in assistant manager or department head position in Food & Beverage.
  • Requires a working knowledge of division operations as well as Four Seasons cultural and core standards, policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of food & beverage service, cost control, labor control, maintenance, merchandising, and accounting.
  • Requires ability to operate computer equipment and other food & beverage computer systems.
  • Requires reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required, unless the candidate is currently in a managerial role with another Four Seasons location.

Responsibilities

  • Select, train, evaluate, lead, motivate, coach, and discipline all employees in the Mara Restaurant & Bar Mara to ensure that established cultural and core standards are met; daily activities and planning for outlet operation.
  • Be visible in the operation, provide recognition, promote good public relations, and handle complaints, concerns or special requests for guests, clients, and group contacts.
  • Describe and ensure quality of all food items, ingredients, and preparation methods, as well as provide expert knowledge of wine and spirits in an elegantly appointed environment dedicated to an attentive and distinctive experience for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
  • Control labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory and cash control.
  • Observe the physical condition of facilities and equipment in the outlet and make recommendations for corrections and improvements as needed.
  • Develop and maintain an elegantly appointed environment with superior staff dedicated to providing our guests with an attentive and distinctive experience for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
  • Control reservations, seating patterns, and turnover while maintaining service standards.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations.
  • Perform other tasks or projects assigned by the Hotel Manager, Mara General Manager, and Executive Leadership Team.
