About The Position

SYSTRA Canada is part of the SYSTRA Group, an international consulting and engineering group and a world leader in transport infrastructure design. SYSTRA Canada is an engineering and consulting firm whose main objective is to offer transport solutions, whether for passengers or goods: feasibility studies for the construction of a new railway line, increasing the capacity of existing infrastructure, privatization of a railway. The ALTO project is a major infrastructure initiative in Canada's history, aiming to develop over 1,000 km of new passenger rail service between major urban centers, including Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, electrical, mechanical engineering, construction engineering, or a related discipline (required).
  • Master's degree in project management, engineering, or a related field (an asset).
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible for registration.
  • 10 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Solid understanding of construction methodologies, innovative delivery methods, technologies, planning, execution, site logistics, as well as commercial, legal, and contractual issues.
  • Very good knowledge of contractual and commercial procedures (contract management, amendments, claims, compliance).
  • Excellent command of project management principles and tools (planning, risks, costs, deadlines, quality, change management).
  • Knowledge of BIM and understanding of information and data management (standards, lifecycles, interdisciplinary exchange).
  • Proficient with office and professional technologies and applications.
  • Solid understanding of railway systems, associated construction methods, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in project management software and design tools relevant to railway projects (e.g., Primavera P6/MS Project, CAD/DAO suites, collaboration platforms).
  • Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing, in both French and English.
  • Proactive approach, strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Ability to lead activities with uncertainties and to recommend/implement improvements.
  • Results-oriented, commercial acumen, and contractual rigor.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for work packages and scopes under their control, leveraging experience to foster a culture of excellence in health, safety, well-being, and quality, while ensuring a solid business foundation from the early stages.
  • Support the Director in managing a multidisciplinary team of engineers, project managers, and other specialists.
  • Adopt a proactive approach in engaging with the various delivery teams.
  • Master the monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) and their ownership, in line with the monthly measurement criteria established.
  • Understand and manage resource allocation, interfaces, and constraints.
  • Lead activities with high uncertainty regarding solutions or outcomes.
  • Contribute to the support of Project Control and Reporting teams to maintain up-to-date metrics on program-level performance.
  • Recommend and initiate adjustments to project delivery plans, identify areas for improvement, and submit them to the relevant stakeholders in business and operational processes.
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders to ensure objectives are met.
  • Manage external relationships essential for project delivery (e.g., regulatory authorities).
  • Develop and maintain a network with peer project teams and other disciplines.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of execution plans, establish value-creating delivery models, and be a driver of innovation and best practices.
