About The Position

Are you currently enrolled in a Respiratory Therapy program and interested in gaining hands-on experience in your chosen field of study? The Student-Respiratory Therapy Assistant (RTA) position offers Respiratory students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting. These positions include starting and discontinuing therapies for patients, learning about patient record keeping, and learning how to properly utilize Respiratory Therapy equipment. In addition to gaining clinical knowledge and experience, our RTAs are uniquely positioned to move into official Registered Respiratory Therapy roles at Indiana University Health. These team members get an outstanding opportunity to experience all the different ways Respiratory Therapists impact patient lives for the better. Requirements

Strong customer service skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to deal with confidential patient information
Basic computer skills and ability to work in EMR
Basic knowledge of infection control procedure
Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams to insure optimal patient care
Strong organizational skills
Current enrollment in a CoARC (Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) and regionally accredited respiratory care program
Current active Respiratory Student Permit from the state of Indiana
Healthcare Provider BLS Certification
