Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Respiratory Manager holds 24 hour authority, responsibility and accountability for Respiratory Care on the patient care units. This role coordinates interdepartmental services and provides clinical supervision of staff respiratory care practitioners, students and supervisors. The manager develops and oversees departmental and respiratory program policies, procedures and standards, ensuring compliance with JCAHO, CARF, DPH, and other organizations. The position actively participates in the development of specialty programs related to pulmonary care, conducts regularly scheduled staff meetings, and participates in inter-disciplinary meetings. Additionally, the manager is involved in the retention, recruitment, and hiring process in collaboration with the Director of Nursing and Clinical Services.
