Respiratory Therapist - Mayo Clinic Store

Mayo Clinic•Phoenix, AZ
•$31 - $42

About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist (RT) works in multiple capacities as part of the Mayo Clinic Store and healthcare teams. The RT dispenses, monitors, and troubleshoots prescribed respiratory home medical devices, which may include positive pressure therapy devices (including advanced BiPAP modes), stationary and portable oxygen concentrators, suction equipment, and bronchopulmonary clearance devices, depending on the store location. The RT serves as a content expert and advocate for Mayo Store patients by monitoring therapy devices and following up with patients, caregivers, and medical providers about prescribed equipment and therapy. The RT may recommend home respiratory equipment or therapy to the patient care team, identify safety concerns or noncompliant use, and educate patients and caregivers on equipment. The RT may also provide continuing education to Mayo Clinic and outside facilities and, at some locations, attest to proper dispensing of respiratory home medical equipment. The RT works with medical providers to support effective equipment selection, dispensing, handoff, and billing. This includes using the electronic medical record to request missing or corrected billing documentation, helping care teams select appropriate products, directing providers to vendors for products not supported by the Mayo Store, and following up on patients’ or caregivers’ educational and therapy challenges at home. The RT collaborates with the Mayo Store billing office on required documentation, paperwork discrepancies, equipment usage, and insurance fee schedules. The RT also helps process prescription faxes through a closed-loop process to support timely dispensing and treatment initiation, and works with providers to obtain modified or corrected medical documentation. Depending on location, the RT may share an after-hours and holiday call rotation for limited durable medical equipment and oxygen setups supporting discharging patients and contracted programs.
