About The Position

The Mayo Clinic Store Respiratory Therapist (MCS RT) supports patients and the Mayo Store team by dispensing, monitoring, and troubleshooting prescribed respiratory home medical equipment. Depending on the location, equipment may include positive pressure therapy devices, including advanced BiPAP modes; stationary and portable oxygen concentrators; suction; and broncho-pulmonary clearance equipment. The RT serves as a clinical resource and patient advocate, following up on therapy and communicating with patients, caregivers, providers, and care teams about equipment and treatment. The role includes identifying safety concerns or non-compliant therapy, recommending appropriate home respiratory equipment, and educating patients, caregivers, Mayo Clinic staff, and outside facilities. The RT may attest to proper equipment dispensing at some locations and works with providers to support an efficient dispensing, handoff, and billing process. Responsibilities also include coordinating documentation and prescriptions with providers and the Mayo Store billing office, supporting timely prescription processing and treatment initiation, and applying clinical knowledge to help staff select appropriate equipment and prescriptions. Depending on the location, the RT may participate in an after-hours and holiday call rotation for limited durable medical equipment and oxygen setups supporting discharged patients and contracted programs.
