Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program
  • Minimum: 3 years experience as an RRT practicing in a Neonatal, Pediatric, and Adult patient population.
  • Validation of competencies for Respiratory Neonatal Pediatric Critical Care.
  • Must possess & maintain licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with the State of Florida Department of Health and the National Board of Respiratory Care
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS)
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification (PALS)
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification (NRP)

Responsibilities

  • Administer general respiratory care modalities in non-critical and function independently in all adult/pediatric/neonatal intensive care areas (which include MSICU, CVSICU, VNICU, CICU, PICU, NICU AND THE EMERGENCY CENTER) in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Implement and monitor all therapeutic modalities per physician’s orders.
  • Function as an Adult/Neonatal/Pediatric Code Captain.
  • Develop and broaden assessment skills, communication skills, and a knowledge base with in these area of respiratory care.
  • Competent to perform all duties and responsibilities of a shift lead and function as an alternate shift lead therapist.
  • Attend neonatal deliveries, intubation of infants and pediatrics patients, function in high risk situations in a delivery room, and provide ground transports of neonatal, pediatric and adult patients to and from TMH.
  • Provide on call staffing for department needs.
