About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care to patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric at Edward Hospital in Naperville, Illinois. This part-time position is scheduled for 20 hours per week, with shifts varying Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., and requires every-third-weekend and rotating-holiday coverage. The therapist may also float to the Plainfield Emergency Center as needed. The position offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

Requirements

Graduate from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program, as determined by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential or proof of registry-eligible status.
Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure within six months of employment.
Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Obtain ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications within 24 months of employment.
Advanced knowledge of acid-base balance, blood gas analysis and interpretation, and cardiopulmonary physiology.

Responsibilities

Assist physicians with respiratory therapy procedures as requested.
Provide physician-ordered respiratory therapy to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients according to hospital policies and procedures.
Assess patients to determine the most suitable method of administering treatment.
Document treatments, equipment maintenance, and quality-control activities; transcribe physicians’ verbal or telephone orders.
Explain treatments clearly to patients and families.
Monitor patients’ physiological responses to therapy, with special attention to pediatric and neonatal patients.
Provide education to patients and staff.
