About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides compassionate respiratory care to chronic, critically ill patients in a critical illness recovery hospital. The hospital provides inpatient post-ICU services for patients who need extended healing and recovery. The role includes evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, and providing care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions. The position is full-time on a 12-hour night shift at SSH-Dallas (Plano).

Requirements

• Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma (preferred), or high school transcript or diploma, or GED.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Obtain ACLS within six months of hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift, and PRN staff must have ACLS upon hire.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• College transcript or diploma is preferred as proof of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
