About The Position
Select Specialty Hospital - Akron is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Respiratory Therapists play a central role in delivering compassionate, excellent treatment to patients during vulnerable periods. The position is PRN/per diem and as needed, based in Akron, Ohio, and pays $44.00 per hour. The hospital provides an extensive Respiratory Therapist orientation program. Strong performance may lead to potential full-time opportunities.
Requirements
- Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
- Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
- Have current state licensure.
- Have ACLS upon hire; agency Respiratory Therapists must have ACLS before their first shift.

- One year of related experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
- Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
- Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
- Promote continuous quality improvement.
- Teach and counsel patients and families.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
