About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides inpatient respiratory care at a critical illness recovery hospital serving chronic, critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery after intensive care. The role supports patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions and contributes to compassionate, high-quality treatment throughout their recovery. This is a PRN/per-diem, as-needed night position in Madison, Wisconsin. The hospital provides an extensive orientation program and notes that strong performance may lead to potential full-time opportunities.

Requirements

• Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or a state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: a college transcript or diploma is preferred; a high school transcript or diploma or GED is also accepted.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Have ACLS certification upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• A college transcript or diploma is preferred as proof of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
