About The Position
Select Specialty Hospital - Akron is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Respiratory Therapists provide compassionate respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions. The position is PRN/per diem and as needed, located in Akron, Ohio, with compensation of $44.00 per hour. The hospital offers an extensive RT orientation program and the possibility of future full-time opportunities based on demonstrated skills and dedication.
Requirements
- Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
- Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
- Hold current state licensure.
- Have ACLS certification upon hire; agency RTs must have ACLS upon their first shift.

- One year of related experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
- Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
- Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
- Promote continuous quality improvement.
- Teach and counsel patients and families.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
